What we did: Fire Alarm Upgrade

Coláiste Choilm is a large modern secondary-school campus made up of several connected teaching blocks rather than one single building. Most sections are two storeys high, with some single-storey areas such as sports and specialist facilities. The school likely contains around 40–60 classrooms and specialist rooms (science labs, art, technology, offices, etc.), plus a sports hall, administrative areas, and outdoor playing facilities.
Rostek recently completed a fire alarm upgrade at Coláiste Choilm, Ballincollig. The school is a large modern secondary-school campus made up of several connected teaching blocks rather than a single building. Most sections are two storeys high, with some single-storey areas such as sports and specialist facilities. The campus includes approximately 40–60 classrooms and specialist rooms (including science labs, art and technology rooms, and offices), along with a sports hall, administrative areas, and outdoor playing facilities.
The project involved upgrading the fire detection and alarm infrastructure across the campus, including replacement of outdated devices, improvements to alarm coverage, and integration with modern control panels to enhance reliability and system performance. Works were carried out in a live school environment, requiring careful scheduling to minimise disruption to daily activities while ensuring compliance with current fire safety standards. The upgraded system now provides improved protection for students, staff, and visitors across the entire site.
